Are you joking? - Would love to see some numbers to back this up.
I am not about putting down one area over/under another - but the fact of the matter is if someone wants to go to the "stop and cop" to drive through and buy some crack cocaine they will be MORE likely to go to (and be successful) at Langley Park than Potomac - just saying.

Jessy0708: I donot think you get what I am saying. We as blacks always get group together as if we all blacks are the exact same. Whenever a African American commit a crime the race is always mention and the black community is always mention. When a white person commits a crime, we hear American needs to be fix or where did America go wrong. I am tired of hearing the black community have problems because I live in a majority blacks community in upper marlboro and we are all educated blacks so are we apart of the black community who need help. When the Jena 6 made headlines I was so upset when I hear/read 6 black students verse 1 white kid, why not say 6 students vs 1 student. I could careless about the race. They are all students why call out the race, thats what cause problems. Whenever I hear about shootings in school and I see the picture of the student, its always a white student. I have never read or hear anywhere that the white parents need to take more responsiblities for raising their child, I always hear the reason why they shoot up schools. Its usually they have mental issues or family problems.
In my community we do white families, when my son is playing with their children I donot want my son or anyone to say my son have a white friend. NO. I want to hear my son have a friend. I am tired of the race card. If a person commit a crime I donot care about the person race, they need to be in jail or get whatever punishment fits the crime.

What do school have to do with anything I just mention? Does it matter if I did or not a school doesnot define who I am?

Ebo, good job for stating you were talking about the "ghetto" blacks also known as the poor black underclass. You are correct and Iscalder has a very valid point.
Florida Hater most likely is about as r-dnecked as he could be about this topic. The whites that move and contribute to "white flight" are usually the lower middle class and middle class whites. I highly doubt whites in McLean would move out if a large group of blacks moved in. Why? Class always takes precedent over race and 90 percent of the time most upper class people get along. The problem with race relations in this country is the poor, lower middle, and middle class. Whites in these economic groups are extremely racist.
No one's alluded to fact that, there was far more crime in America during the 20's, 60's, 70’s, and 80's then there is now. Why the big change in perception? Well, FOX News, MSNBC,CNN,C-SPAN, Court TV, and a host of 24 hour news channels that track and flirter every crime they can cover in this country. Perception we feel less safe, but reality is that we are safer from any statistical evidence you can draw upon. Florida hater not sure what decade you grew up in, but the reduction in crime came in the 90's and now. We have a lot less crime per 1,000 people today then we have ever had in this country in a long time. Your previous statement certainly boarders on racist. Why? You made a generalization on all blacks. whereas Ebo made a clear distinction in saying it is not all blacks. If you want to single out the black underclass as having a large amount of the crime issues in the black community go right ahead statistically you would be correct. In fact it amazes me no one has ever done a study on blacks and crime based on income. Do you think these is because the data does not exist? Or do you think this has to do with a racial element of some people (we'll call bigots) wanting to continue this bs generalization that all blacks are either poor, drug selling, homicidal idiots?
Anyway, Kudos to Ebo and Iscalder they both made very valid arguments on the subject. Is there a pervasive problem in underclass ghetto black community that needs a lot of work? YES! Is it fair to gross generalizing a population of 35 million people based only on 8 million of them that are poor? NO! If you guys are going to be fair in these debates stop gross generalizing (Floridahater.)

I stand on the previous statements!!!!!!!!!!!!! Again, why are so many people leaving??????????????

No, I understood- I'm just saying that by complaining about the white community, you are generalizing just as much as people who talk about a "black community"- not that I think you meant anything maliciously. I agree that it should just be about Americans, but until BOTH sides stop making generalizations and placing blame, unfortunately it won't happen.
By the way, you may be interested in a local theater group for kids of all ages called Colours. It was started in 1992 at my middle school (I was a founding member) and it has evolved into a community group that is based out of a high scholl. They do alot of community service and charity events, along with summer programs, plays, concerts, etc. I haven't been involved with them for years, but they are very involved with PG County politics and events.
I think the website is colours.org

FloridaHater: I think you do not know what you are talking about. If you notice the income in Pg county are increasing each year which means Pg county is attracting high income families each and every year. The county is pushing the crime out of the county into other counties such as montgomery and charles.

As a matter of fact the 80's and 90's were very dangerous years for Washington D.C and Pringe Georges county. The rate for violent crime has actually declined.
Here are two sources...
District of Columbia Crime Rates 1960 - 2006
Metropolitan Police Department: City Annual Stats: 93-05
