Now you know that money and sex are the 2 most important things in the world to just about all people and money especially with the suburbanites. I just about cant stand either one. Maybe those pro-pg people are customers of Kent Village.

The reason why because everyone seem to think the entire pg county have nothing but poor black people. I think my husband and i make the lowest in the entire community and its a big community. And no we are have nothing to do with Kent Village. In this generation black are getting smarter we are making first generation wealth which will continue on to the next generation. Ever black person I know in pg county own their own business and are all in real estate and making our owe wealth. Know I think alot of other race are not happy with successful blacks because some race want to see black killing each other. Just like what crack did to the inner city years ago Meth is doing to the suburbs now.

People need to clarify what part of PG county their talking about. Theres 3 faces of PG county

1. Inside Beltway-- Which is poor mostly AA/latino and very neglected by coporate and housing development. Poor schools and high crime. Its also the area where many of poor are moving because DC is becoming unaffordable thanks in part to Mayor Williams grand plan to get rid of DC's Poor.

2. Outside Beltway--which is either middle class or upper middle class. Very educated and polite. Mostly AA. Its the part that everybody brags about being the most wealthy AA community in the country.

3. Outside Outside Beltway--Its mostly country boys who have not left to move down to Waldorf or Laplata. Mosty White. Mostly middle class.

I worked in PG county for 6 years and never had one problem. I worked the inner and outer beltway for business. I think the problem is that news/media have done a fine job scaring white folks into believing the entire region is some type of Sunni/****e Baghdad neighborhoods....rididculous...

Yeah, I grew up in neighboring Anne Arundel. Totally agree with your assessment of the layers of PG, Zippy7fo.

One thing I hated about MD when growing up here was the racial tension. MD is still a southern state in that regard. Not that it's not everywhere, but when I came back to MD, after living farther north, then out west, was sickened to find it hadn't really changed all that much in 20 yrs -- has changed some, but not nearly enough.

I remember when Metro was being built, and later, when Balt was trying to enlist surrounding counties for collaboration on a subway network. AA Co didn't want black people coming out of the cities and "ruining" their neighborhoods. Neither did eastern PG Co., where the white majority(?) wanted to keep blacks inside the Beltway. (What? Like black people can't drive?)

PG is traditionally the Co. that Marylanders like to rag on, but not without reason. Kinda like the NJ of MD -- you know how NYCers love to beat up on Jersey. White people in AA Co love to think they're superior to the "rednecks" in PG. (Like AA doesn't have them?)

When describing MD to others, I sometimes say that its a "Southern" state south of the BWA triangle and a Mid-Atlantic state from Balt. north. The triangle is a gemish.

I also lived in Prince Georges County for a time and i'm i would have to say from personal experience I HATED and still do. I'm not a fan. However, Prince Georges as an overall county is in no way poor or close to it. Let me throw out a few facts. The average Median income in the nation is just under 35k's a year. Hell, i'm a college student and i make that much at my internship, so i couldn't imagine feeding kids on that. Anyway, I digress. PG County is at around 55k least and 60k median, so the county is a middle class county overall and like most counties whether its fairfax, montgomery, or howard the majority of the people that live in the county are middle class. Yes, as in every other county there are a small portion of wealthy, or upperclass families in PG county. However, just like in Fairfax, Montgomery, and Howard, that is not the majority. The majority of families in the DC metro area's are in the lower or middle class. Yes, there is a higher percentage of wealthy or uppper middle class families in fairfax or montgomery ,but they are by no means a great overall representation of the county. PG has its poorer areas, which are crime ridden and extremely dangerous, but if you were to drop a pet off in one of the more affluent areas once you got over the fact, that the upper class and wealthy individuals in PG county are black you'd find them no different then their white, black, or asian, upper middle class couterparts in other counties in the DC area. I mean you are obviously a lower middle class or middle class at best, so the off shot comments on PG are a little stricking considering, that Howard county has a number of poor areas, that equal PG's poor areas, as does Montgomery (which are equally as crime ridden) as well as Fairfax. I mena if you're dropping off pets in Landover hills yes, you're going to encounter poor individuals that cannot take care of their pets, but if that's your job to pick up endagerd pets. Well, we can all put two and two together the majority of people that cannot afford to take car of their pets are going to be poor and that goes for any county. I think your opinion has less to do with PG county and more to do with your racial basis for the people that inhabit the county. Yes, i'm a black person and i do not like PG county nor would i ever live there, but i also wouldn't leave in certain "redneck" parts of Howard county as you have the same low class trash there, but they're white instead of black, but they have those same crappy low class attitudes, that make it hard to live around. Anyway, as far as comparing PG to Phila. You all have valid points on the crime in PG. It is unheard of for a "suburburban" comminuty to have such an outlandesh crime level. Also i agree the school system sucks, but in genral the american public school system sucks, so you should be educating your kids in private school to begin with assuming you actually care about their education.
Umm no the reason for thinking it was poor was because all the people I've met from there were poor, and white as a matter of fact....maybe poor white trash are the people that are attracted to rescue animals for all I know. But as far as PG goes I have only heard bad things about it, from both people still living there and those that have moved. As far as median incomes go Howard and Montgomery have higher ones than you quoted for PG...so again based on your information you would have to assume that it is a poorer county. Do not assume anything about me, you don't know me. You don't know how much I make or what my "class" status is, and you don't know of the type of people I associate with are so to infer I am racist is just ignorance at best.

My original post said "I could be wrong" but I guess you decided to skip that part and launch a personal attack instead, which speaks volumes about your own racism not mine.

MoM You are so wrong. You said the reason for thinking pg county have a lot of poor was becasue the people you know are poor that tells me of your class if everyone you know in pg or have move from the county is poor. I live in Pg county and know no poor everyone i know all live in lives in a 500k home or higher. One main reason why Montgomery and Howard have more upper class then pg is because of the value of the homes are high. If you take notice of pg county the property values are increasing with the government doing this the county is getting rid of the lower class little by little as a matter of fact all my clients who want to purchase a home in pg county and makes under 45k a year cannot afford a home in pg county. I do loans every day for a living and I get a lot of single parents or combine income and majority of them want to move to pg because of the high home prices in dc,montgomery but i have to tell them no pg is getting pricey. When the National Harbor gets completed in 2008 pg will be too pricey along with the other counties and with the higher property value pg will have better schools and lower crimes. Its just so sad that the 3 majority county in maryland will be way to expensive for people to purchase homes

Ok I do not live there, but how does me meeting people from there that are poor mean that I am also? The people I have met are through an animal rescue group and nursing school. The ones from nursing school all left the country because they said the schools were terrible and crime was high. The people I have met from the animal rescue group are all struggling at best to afford their lives. So why wouldn't I think it was poor? I don't follow that logic how you can say that because I've met people who are poor that I am also. So my point to that poster (and now obviously to you too) was that irregardless of if PG is poor or not that saying I am a racist or poor myself makes no sense because that was my impression of the area from where I have been to and from people have told me. I don't care if it's poor or not I was giving an oppinion of my impression, which I stated "I could be wrong about"...so I don't get why I am being attacked for it.

I am not attacking you but if you are not sure about something please donot assume and post the wrong information. Pg county is like anyother county we have the poor areas. The Middle-Upper class areas then we have the rich areas so all of your animal resues have all been in the poor areas. So please get that straight if you going to mention the poor areas of pg county please do but please donot mention the entire o****y as been poor.
