some been poor having nothing to do with been ghetto. Their are plenty of low income families who represent themselves very well. While you have people who are welathy or rich or upper class who have no class at all and act more ghetto then lower class folks. Rigth now you come off as been ghetto because ghetto folks are ignorant jus tlike you. If you really thinks all low income people are ghetto you need to think again.
Most of the wealthy people now who we think have class were raise very poor.
Oprah she was very very poor I guess you would consider ghetto but now I bet oyu are one of her flocks. Barack Obama was raised in a poor household but now he is very very educated.He can out speak any of those white candidate who was raised in a wealhy home. John Edwards his family was poor, I guess he was consider ghetto growing up. Now lets talk about those who was raised in wealth like Paris,Nicole and the Hilton family. The Hilton's come off as having no class at all. They walk around with no underwears have sex with who ever say Hi but yet they were raised around wealth. Those poor ghetto folks you degrade would never open their legs in pubic shoing their private and can careless who sees it. Money does not equal class. So if someone does not have wealth you consider them ghetto well I guess all of rural whites are ghetto. They live in the same poor situation as some blacks. I guess you consider, The real house wifes of Orange county ghetto whites because all though they have wealth they carry themselves as trash. Ghetto is how one carry themselves. You can be poor but have the highest dignity then any wealthy person. ghetto is in all race, their are ghetto whites who are consider trailer park trash or those who are wealthy but live the most nastiest,disgusting lives by sleeping around,cursing like a sailor,degrading themselves thats consider ghetto not money. Ghetto is associated with all race, all income level.

I have lived in many areas of the county when I was younger...Suitland(Manor Knolls in the 5th grade)...Landover(Apts. behind Publik Playhouse) and in Kung Ying Gardens in Riverdale. I lived with my mother and younger brother and had a good life, no complaints. Then I moved to Upper Marlboro in the 6th grade.

My life has not been sheltered by any means, I had a friend that lived in Barry Farms. I go to go-gos all the time and that makes me bad how?

I didn't grow up in a two-parent household and neither did many of my friends but what does that have to do which academic success? A single-mother can and have raised very bright children.

plus the others that chose to go straight in to govenment jobs that they had since high school and some went to trade school.
Others chose HBCU's and have joined soroities or fraternities.

Largo was 97% black with two white guys who never once pretended to act black and they were accepted. Those that had the grades or were athletes were the most popular. Yes, we did have our share of bad influences but not the majority and most where just faking it anyway.

The only poor kids we had were bused in from Forestville and it was a small group. Girls in my school wore LV bags and Chanel bracelets. Boys had Northfaces and expensive shoes. I mean most people that went there lived in Perrywood! Everyone was accpeted for who they were and no one no one brought in the race card like you are because we were all the same.

And again whats wrong with a single parent home? My mother has done and still is doing a great job. My aunt whose husband left is doing and exellent job raising her son and his other kids. Hell yea I am proud to come from a single parent home and I know others who are too. Why? because we love our mothers that have sacrificed a lot for us.

I think that you have a very deep situational bias and you should direct attention to fixing that.

Wow. There must something wrong with me then. I grew up in a two parent home. My family would have been considered middle and later upper middle class. But, I have friends in every socio-economic group you could name. One of my childhood friend's family would recieve a food basket each thanksgiving. The teachers at the school would put them together. We have been friends since we were ten years old. How much her parents made meant nothing to me or my parents. What mattered was the type of people they were. They were hard working but poor. She didn't bring me and our other friends down. She was an excellent student. Who worked hard in school, attended college, and is now successful in the banking industry. Her three brothers are doing just as well. Not all poor Blacks are self loathing. Most are trying to succeed against great obstacles. One of them are people like you. People who look at the neighberhood a person lives in and determines there worth.

Have you been in prison for the past ten years? I ride a so called "crotch rocket" and believe me when I tell you, the mindset of bikers in the region never ever worry about police in any jurisdiction. They know that the police can't catch 25 bikers all at once. Ironically, they believe in "Safety in Numbers." Have you ever been up I270 on a Friday night? I have personally been with guys doing 125mph from Annapolis to Downtown DC. Even in VA on I95 the stretch from Springfield to DC. Have you ever been to Arundel Mills on a hot summer's night? Bikes galore. The BW Parkway is crawling with bikes. Your statement that they slowdown after they leave PG is ridiculous at best.

Some of you people don't know anything about black people or black culture so you make rash generalizations and inaccurate statements. Stop listening to the news and get out and explore to see for yourself.

unfortuantley you're correct........it is sad how much things cost and how little we now get for a dollar that continues to decline each and every day right along with family values and our educational system.

The strength of our nation is reflected in the strength of our families and based on all of these posting something is so fundmentally wrong or out of wack that the future doesn't look to bright for any of us. Cheverly, MD 20785......we have the zip code for all of Hyatsville, MD......if we didn't have the police dept. we do (and its a Cheverly force with their own cars!) we would be overun by crime and you couldn't walk around at night (I still don't). I have had roomates mugged walking home from the Cheverly metro at lunch time.....and a neighbor woman who was robbed by knife point in her own home after dark. They eventually caught these young criminals (will not mention race here). I am certain that when the money moves into the areas surrounding Cheverly that are so blighted now - things will improve. There is NO shopping....thank Gawd for Walmart (the only new store in the area). I am not racist....I feel this is a socio-economic issue.....criminals will go to where the victims are easist and the profit is greatest. I am all for using 'any means necessary' to catch and apprehend the criminals (including dogs - and yes they do bite u in the ass!)......if you can't do the time....don't do the crime. Unlike Jack Johnson's theme lately.....'we are gonna put u in jail'.....these kids walk after stealing cars. Glen Ivey even had his van stolen......enough out of me lol.
