Get a grip young grassshopper! You know not what you speak. Graduate from college and breath some adult air before you start generalizing an entire county based on what you've seen at greenbelt mall. More white kids of all classes think they're 50 cents and they've never sniffed a real "hood" like yourself. Have any of these pg kids ever done anything to you, doubt it, but you're an expert on "ghetto mentality". Most black kids especially those affluent ones in pg understand that 50 cent is selling an image. Those kids immulate the "cool" aspects of it but the vast majority don't engage in the criminal aspects of it. They're close enough to the "hood" to gauge what's real when the white kids think every 50 or Jay-Z video is real life when it isn't. Also, actually read Bill Cosby's book then read Michael Dyson's book on the matter and get a little background on the situation before you start name dropping. Holla if you need some more schooling. I grew up in PG County and am currently trying to talk my grandparents into moving out of there. The area that they have lived in for over 40 years (New Carrollton)has gotten crime ridden. Just this weekend, a 17 year old was shot in the face at a graduation party on the street behind where my family lives. When my mother called 311, she was put on hold. They had called the police earlier in the night, along with several other because the music was so loud that they could hear it in the living room with all the doors and windows shut- and the house where there party is is about 6 houses down. The police were to busy to come by- this has gotten to be the norm. My grandmother's car was stolen a few years ago, and I was robbed at an ATM machine in Riverdale at a shopping center where there was several people around- not one person called the police or did anything, even after the man ran away. My old high school was recently set on fire, and there are consistent reports of breaking and enterings. These are just a few tiny examples, all you need to do is read the papers for more. There are some areas of PG that are a lot nicer, but so much of it has become run down and crime ridden. There is a lot of wonderful, intelligent people- black, white, latino- whatever living there, but they get overshadowed by the crooks and criminals. It's sad to me, because of the proximity to DC and Baltimore, and the natural resources, it could be a wonderful place to live, but you're fooling yourselves if you think it's a great place now.

Where did you see a ghetto in Croatia?

This year we had 29 murders in this country, all resolved by legal authorities. It’s a lot, of course, but not as many as one would expect in a ghetto society.

Isn't 311 a non-emergengy number, not sure but I think it is? Sorry you got robbed but that happens everywhere. Read what papers for more what? Loud music at a graduation party, really? Never heard of that, only in P.G. I'm just curious where this utopia is that many on this board live in or plan to live in. I take it most here aren't multi-millionaires so gatted communities aren't in the cards. Without that, you're going to always get some crap with your goodies. I have family that have lived in New Carrolton for that period and they still enjoy it to this day. Try and keep perspective. You want your grandpeeps out of the entire county? Why not the East Coast or North America? Criminals never have and never will respect physical borders. If they live in D.C. and commit crime in P.G., theyll do it anywhere. Run if you choose but you can't outrun what you don't know.

Back to "read the papers". The D.C. area news outlets have been notorious for continually reporting every insignificant criminal thing that happens in P.G. This negligence has clearly worked as many believe that P.G. is completely unsafe and void of good people while the rest of the region is perfect. Trust me, more bad sh*t happens in places like Fairfax than you can imagine(because it's not in "the papers" in doesn't happen). That place is a stronghold and breeding ground for ms-13, rolling 60s crips, bloods etc. I know this because I know the gang members! A bad neighborhood is a bad neighborhood any whatever county it's in. (Kentland-PG; Culmore-Fairfax) but don't generalize.

PG county deserves all of the bashing and then some. It had and may still have(haven't checked in five years) one of the highest police brytality rates. The most "ghetto" public housing in Md and the most drugs period. One of the worse school systems in the state. So besides the Md campus can you tell me why I shouldn't bash a place that should not even exist?

I live in Laurel in a very nice and new development so I don`t see anywhere close to the crimes experienced anywhere else in PG county. Laurel is in four counties for all the uneducated people out there. Let me educate you. The entire of PG county isn`t the way people on this board perceive it to be or would like it to be. I think people just say taht stuff to rile people like me up. Do some reserch economically on PG county and then come back on talk. Fuh real. It really sounds like an uneducated person who is just hateful and has alot of vengence in them. Some parts of PG are yes terrible. I`d say so. Some parts in every county and every city is terrible.
