Default Laurel MD

I know Laurel is divided into different counties. I'm guessing the "nicer", safer parts are in Anne Arundel and Howard County. When looking at a map, what are the cutoffs for the different counties?

Any areas that I should stay away from? Any really nice parts of Laurel? Going to be looking for a 1BR/1BA Apartment.

I grew up in the Howard County section of Laurel (N Laurel) and lived in both the PG and AA sections as an adult and I really couldn't get out of there fast enough. I still drive through occasionally and it just seems depressing.
I'll try to divide the city into counties the best I can, but I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong:

Rt 1 (north/south) divides Howard County and PG county. There is a bridge near Main Street that is the divider (I think it might be the Patuxent River?)

RT 198 (East/west) sorta divides Anne Arundel County and PG County. Heading East its AA county and west its PG County--parts West may even be Montgomery--thinking Burtonsville?, but not 100%. Anyway I think AA county begins once you pass the Laurel Race Track entrance and the intersection with Rt 197. I know that once you reach 198 and 32 you're in AA county.

Basically, South Laurel is PG. North Laurel is Howard.

There was a discussion specifically about Laurel some time ago. Use the search function--there was some pretty interesting posts.

Hope this helps.

Please , there are nice parts of Laurel in PG that are also nice. There`s the GLens of wellington by Laurel hospital. It`s a nice place. I`ve been here about 7 years in this country and gettign ready to build actually it is being built as we speak in that communtiy so stop hating. Could it be that all the people talking bad about Laurel couldn`t afford a house in that community? so then stop hating. In the next three to five years, mark my words, WATCH AND SEE what will happen to good ole Laurel. HAHA. If anything the schools are not that great but that`s it. no big hight crime area to me. Laurel isn`t really in the news at all. So check yuhself and come again.

Here you go again. Do you know how it feels to live somewhere all your life where it mediocre or bad, so when it gets better you still wanna move? That's how its been here. You being here 7 years is a trip to people who been here say 27+ years. It could be better for you where you came from, but other's move because they seek the same thing, better quality of life. Don't hate because other people don't share your vision. Laurel has things that some people want and others hate, or others just want to afford the quality of life they deserve without being in the near ghetto and paying an arm/leg/firstborn for a shack of a house.
