I moved out of Maryland in June '05 after living there my entire life. If had wanted to move, I suppose I would have moved, right? Well, my soon-to-be ex husband dragged me out to a dumpy old town in AZ - Yuma because he got this "fabulous" government job. For yucks, people watch the grass grow. Ugh. As the late Bette Davis said, "WHAT a DUMP!"

Wow, 3 summers in Yuma...that's harsh. My brother lived there a couple years and I always asked him how he could stand the heat, he would always say "Ahhh, it's not that bad."
Now to each his own, but I can understand why you want to move home.
Anyway, read the first line from this website describing MD's housing market.

The MD forecast was just updated, so the info is up to date. Now don't get me wrong - MD is going through some tough times. But not nearly as bad as many, many other places. It's also potentially a good time to buy a home if you decide to come back to stay. Good luck and welcome "home."

Echo'ing what Tim says. While the job market is pretty soft if you're in construction or real estate, overall it's not nearly as dismal as other places. And I do agree right now is a great time to buy a house if you've got any sort of down payment. Good luck!
