isis297, I lived in Carroll County (specifically Eldersburg) for over 20 years and I liked it. Eldersburg has nice schools and has great communities, but is getting bigger by the day. I beleive the average prices for single family house in Elderburg would be around 350-400K. If you are planning to work in Hunt Valley, Towson, Reisterstown there are also other towns north you could look at. One of my best friends lives in a town about 30 min. north of Towson called Abingdon (in Harford county) . This is a very new developing area where the prices for houses are much lower (single family around 275K-350K), and everything is newer and spaced out. They have a lot of nice shopping in this area, but keep in mind in this town you are further away from baltimore. Obvisouly the closer you get to baltimore you are going to be moving into more expensive and developed neighborhoods.

As far as aberdeen, i have not heard much about it.

Default Pasadena???

Pasadena has a low crime rate? How you ever came up with that assumption I don't know. We lived in Pasadena, and saw nothing but one crime after another. A neighbor bought an $800,000.00 house, and two weeks later, with no deck steps, had his entire lawn chairs, table, and electric grill stolen from a 2nd foot deck, and nobody saw it??? The high schools are so rough now that a kid was killed in one a few years ago. Make sure you lock your doors and get car alarms because if you don't, the car will be gone and you'll wake up to someone in your house. This is not a quaint town. The older people take respect in their homes, but the last 10 years it has gone downhill. Lots of gangs. Water is too dirty for swimming or skiing. Very high cancer rate among residents. Look into Bel Air, Fallston or Carroll County - Hampstead and Manchester.

Chestertown is one of the nicest small towns in maryland.....centreville isnt bad either but not as nice as chestertown....I live 5 miles from C-town.

pasadena isnt really a town as much as a sprawl area...not my idea of a quaint town. midge is dead on with the state of affairs there.

near baltimore a small town (no shopping really just homes) is Granite....lived there awhile, not bad but has gotten expensive and urban development has found it.
