Son with Autsim, Moving to Maryland, Where to live? (renting, preschool)

We are in our 30's with 2 little boys under 4. Our oldest is diagnosed with Autism. We have friends in St. Mary's county, and would love to live close to them. However, none of us know how the services for special needs children are in that area.

We are in the beginning stages of looking, and are still open to other areas if it's in the best interest for our son. We would LOVE it if St Mary's county would work out though.

Anyone have any information to help us out? I'm looking for information on schools (especially their special needs programs), therapists, doctors, support groups, etc. Thanks so much!

Our son also has autism and attends a special needs preschool in Carroll County. We have been extremely pleased with the special needs services here. But Carroll County is admittedly pretty far from St. Mary's. Best wishes.

You might want to try some google searches to find parenting listserves for St. Mary's and the surrounding counties and some of the larger cities within those counties. For example, I live in P.G. County and we have a parenting listserv for the county. But my town also has a parenting listserv too.

You can find them using a search engine and putting in [Name of Countyor City] moms or parents

Once you find them you can then ask the moderator for membership on a temporary basis.

That is a great idea Scrapper. We have one here where we live now, and it is informative. I just couldn't find them there. I will try googling it again.
