I would recommend either Middletown or New Market -- both in Frederick County.

I second Fort Washington, I would move to one of those spots on the water in Piscataway Hills, or Tantallon
Or maybe an 50 acre farm in Aquasco/Baden/Brandywine, away from everything and everybody

I fourth Bethesda. DC is easily accessible from Bethesda, and it is right next to 270 and 495, making it central to the nice parts of VA and MD. Being close to the Beltway makes it easy to get around the DC Metro area. It also has many, many quality restaurants.

I'd live in Chevy Chase/ Bethesda with the nice rich homes that are gated with cameras. It's close to everything.

I don't get it, if the area is so great, what's the deal with the cameras? Paranoia, or are you being sarcastic? I imagine statiscally, someone in a gated/ritzy area has a far less chance of being a victim of crime in their own community, especially from a "stranger", not too mention police presence would be everywhere
But if your a re being sarcastic, I get the joke. Ha

A historic townhouse in Georgetown, along P St NW.
Or, somewhere in old town Alexandria.
Or, a nice big house in NOVA, Centreville area.
