Good read in the Baltimore Sun about the state of housing in the Baltimore region:

Quote:
"The Sun's analysis, comparing arms-length transactions on file with the state Department of Assessments and Taxation, found people across the region selling at a loss. Harford County had the lowest percentage - 29 percent of homes purchased after 1999 and resold in the first half of this year. Anne Arundel County, at 40 percent, had the highest. In Baltimore, the figure was 33 percent."

Well go figure, the home we were looking to put an application in on already has two in. I really wish there were an easier way to get this accomplished. I have a ton of stuff to deal with already with my PCS and moving all my stuff from previous command, to a place we dont have yet. Very frustrating....

Well that all depends on what's included or comes with the rental. I'm can't pay more than 1600 total. I would like to keep it under that so I'm not using all of my BAH just for rent.

Crofton is a decent area and they have single family homes (with garages) for rent but those are a little higher than $1,500 in rent. Linthicum is a nice area but I don't see many garages with their homes that are listed for rent. Some will accept pets. I am not a realtor but was just looking around the cbmove website. There are a number of townhomes in Crofton within your price range. I personally prefer Crofton over Odenton. It just seems that there is more things to do in Crofton.

For 1600, you could get a nice apartment in Annapolis. Try looking at Regatta Bay...I knew a couple that lived there and it was very nice.

Check out the Arnold area. I used to live there and really liked it. You would only be about 20 minutes from Glen Burnie (Marly Station Mall). Oh, and be sure to check out Ann's Footlong Hotdogs at the mall. Fantastic, heart attack inducing food!!!!!

I appreciate all of the positive input. Still searching, maybe going to start looking in Annapolis. Guess I'll have to just spend a little more time in the truck each morning.

Annapolis may be a great place to look. If you can't find what you want there or in Odenton, you might want to check out the apartments down the street from Arundel Mills (Hanover). They're dog-friendly...seems like everyone has a dog.

We just moved back to the area and are renting a 2br/1ba townhouse in Millersville MD for $1300. THe place is called berkhires at harper's mill. 410-987-9230. I think they give a discount to military. The area is decent, the place is "renovated" so it's not top of the line renovation but livable. Kitchen, Bathroom updated, new carpet, new windows, etc...There is no garage but there are plenty of storage companies nearby. We moved from a house so had to store tons of our stuff in the extra storage down the street. I do believe they accept pets..Millersville borders glen burnie so it's really close by. Good Luck anyways.
