Default better/worse -Arnold and severna Park

Are there any areas of Arnold or Severna Park that are better or worse than other areas?I am looking at properties that are in the $300,000 range.

I lived just south of Arnold in an area known as Cape St. Claire for many years. There are upscale areas in both Arnold and Severna Park. Generally, they are neighborhoods with water access and/or homes on the water. Arnold isn't quite as pricey - at least it wasn't 10 years ago - because folks on that side of Route 2 are known as "Mags." Natives of the area had this mindset that people living on the Magothy River weren't as well-off as those living on the Severn River.

Just from my observations over the years, it appeared that Arnold was more affordable. You don't mention any particular neighborhoods where you are looking. When I left the area, the housing boom was in full swing, and prices had skyrocketed.

Have you found anything you like in your price range?

If you don't mind living just down the street and a little south on Route 2, you might want to consider Cape St. Claire. The houses are older, but the neighborhood is full of mature trees and small streets. There is also a decent shopping center right in the Cape. Graul's grocery store is a local chain and they have very good food. The small Cape shopping center has all you could need - dry cleaner, florist, nails/manicure shop, liquor store, even a pool hall.

Yeah, the Cape is a bit redneck, but I loved how peaceful it was. I could also jump on Route 50 and be in downtown Annapolis in 15 minutes.

Don't know if you've considered that neighborhood, but you may want to check out the real estate there.

The beauty of Arnold or the Cape is that you can commute to the outskirts of Baltimore or DC fairly quickly. Once there it's another story.
