Default Bel air md

We are thinking of moving to the Bel Air area from Lynchburg, Va. Lynchburg has not panned out as we have hoped. We are wondering the best way to get an apt in Md.
Basically we have sufficient savings for now. But... he has found all of 4 weeks of work so far and I have been working a meaningless pt job. So if we apply to apts we would want to do it under last years income taxes and not this years.
What he is wondering is how bad does it look to other apts if we choose to break our lease where we are now?
Any ideas and suggestions about the whole thing would be welcome.
Also does anyone know about Country Village apts there? We are not looking to rent by section 8 neighbors again. Ever.

I lived almost 30 years around the Bel Air area. I have a friend who lives in Country Village Apartments and another family I know lived there while their house was being built. It's decent- a little older and gets mixed reviews, particularly with maintenence Country Village Apartments - Google Maps

I've never been to Lynchburg but I can say that Bel Air is not ghetto at all. Even the "worst" part of town isn't that bad. You should feel safe walking around even at 3 AM. Naturally stuff like car break ins, vandalism etc can happen just about anywhere but you're not likely to get mugged. It's convenient to the schools, restaurants, main street strip of businesses and bars. Let me know if you want to know anything else about the area.
