Typically, and this applies to Western MD as well, the areas that are cheaper are typically out of reasonable commuting distance for all the jobs... And even the "cheaper" places in MD don't stack of favorably with other states...

Try another NC area
Raleigh/Durham area has good home prices and many hospitals(for nursing jobs) and good schools and would be much closer for return visits to DE.

The poster is a nurse and I can tell you, the eastern shore hospitals are definitely looking for nurses. She can live in a great small town with cheap homes like Willards and commute 15-20 minutes to work with no traffic other than Uncle Buck moving his cows across the road to the other field. LOL

Well if her first choices were Charlotte and Waldorf I doubt she wants to live in that rural of an area...
That being said rural NC is still cheaper than rural MD...

Not true. Allegany County is rural Western Maryland is one of the most affordable places to live in the entire country. The median home price in 2008 was under 100k, the 13th cheapest in the country. All of the places that were cheaper were in the northern rust belt, none were from NC or the rest of the south.

Perhaps this is true in western MD very far away from all of the jobs for most people, but not as much on the Eastern Shore and not at all in Southern MD...
