I've been offered a job in Lanham, Md. Could anyone recommend a desirable area within 30 minutes of this area? Would like to be in a quaint town/ downtown area where shops and restuarants are within walking distance. Looking for a studio/1 br- trying to stay under $700. Would consider a little more for a really great town though. Thanks in advance for feedback!

Quaint downtown areas? The closest you'll come is College Park and old Greenbelt. Bowie has a quaint old-town type area, but no apts. nearby. It still has a lot to offer.

Trying to stay under 700? Good luck with that, this area as a whole is very overpriced, not too sure what you will get at that price, anywhere in this area. But good luck, there are some nice areas around Lanham/Bowie, and they just built a new shopping center on 450

I agree with cool rob.....you should plan on spending at the very least $1100.00 a month. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong please.

$700 a month u will not find in this area. Lanham is a nice area so you will pay more. A friend of mine live close to Lanham is paying $1500 a month for a 1bedroom apt.
