Hi- I am a RN-BSN, planing to relocate from NC to Maryland, with my four little children, ranging 1-8yrs, and my wife. First of all, I don't like Baltimore city. I would like to relocate to one of the counties closest to DC where schools with excellent schools, family friendly and violence is less pronounced. I also learned from this site that MD is very expensive. As a RN-BSN, will we be ok in this state? I want your opinion.

What do you mean by close? Baltimore beltway to the Capitol beltway is only about 25-30 minute drive. If you want to be 5-10mile away from DC then you are talking Montgomery or Prince Georges county. I would avoid PG county. Also understand the entire area is more congested than anyplace in NC. Closer to DC will be even more congested.

Ellicott City/Columbia area of Howard county have good schools too.

A range of what you can afford for housing will help narrow this down some.
