Best place to live in MD?
Wow, looking at these boards I am amazed at the amount of people talking about the commute and traffic. Sounds like you have to plan your life around it.
Where do you think the best/non congested/nice/safe areas to live are? And why? Preferably in the DC area or near Bethesda.
Thanks!!!

You gotta be kidding?! near DC/Bethesda? I don't know if sucha an area exists! The growth in the DC area has also contributed to more congestion.

I love living in Eldersburg (Carroll County) for precisely the reasons you indicated - it's nice, safe, non-congested. But it's nowhere near DC/Bethesda (which is probably a very good thing!).

If you are looking for a non congested area in Maryland you have to visit the slower paced eastern shore.

Dc and Bethesday are two of the most traffic congested places. I think Bethesda might be worst then dc. When you drive in bethesda all ways traffic no matter the time if day.
Is it just me or do anyone else think rush hour is starting earlier each year. I remember rush hour would start around 5pm now its 2pm what is going on.

I live in Carroll County. Loving it....
Anything furthest away from I-495 is ideal... as already stated...congested 24/7.
I personally think the growth in Montgomery county is over, but the area is maintaining well.
I think the better real estate opportunity lies in Anne Arundel, Howard and Carroll counties.
Visit my website www.ChristinaYoon.com...if (broken link) I can be of further help, let me know.

To avoid congestion, steer clear of the following:
Baltimore County
Baltimore City
Anne Arundel County (north and west ends, and around Annapolis)
Prince George's County
Montgomery County (all parts!)
Frederick County (I-270 / Rt. 15 corridor)
Anything along Rt. 50 in the summer
Pretty much the counties that have I-95 / I-495 through them between Baltimore and DC.

Bethesda is among the worst traffic for sure. The eastern shore is good, as is anything west of Frederick (like Washington County and west).
