Default white marsh area

can anyone tell me about the White Marsh area outside of Baltimore. Is there a town, how are the schools, parks, housing prices, taxes, traffice, people, crime? Is it a good place to raise kids. Anything for them to do besided going to Baltimore? Thanks

Thumbs up Nice!

Last time I lived there, it was 2003. It seemed a bit more upscale than surrounding areas (excluding Towson). White Marsh Mall is great (Macy's, etc.) and they have the Avenue at White Marsh, which is a lovely outdoor shopping area, with a nice movie theatre and cute shops. Lots of restaurants and tons of places to shop (supermarkets, garages, banks). I got the impression that everything was "just off either I-95 or Rt. 1", not really a town, persay. The people were VERY nice and friendly. The schools would be Baltimore County- just watch how close to the city you get with them. I taught in one right near the city/county line- and would never send my kids there. Awful administrators who did not care and rough kids. Be careful.

There was always something going on for kids- the churches, public libraries, sports- you name it. I never had issues with crime. I know Baltimore has a reputation, but I NEVER encountered a problem, and I was there two years. The traffic was busy, but not insane. I think it is more clogged here- we do not have the major roads like down there. I LOVED living there- just disliked teaching in the county school system, which is why I moved. It wasn't cheap living there, but I was a single person, living off a public school teacher' salary- and was a happy camper.

Perhaps someone who lives there now can fill you in better. I know I enjoyed being there immensely!

White Marsh/Perry Hall is booming. I worked there for 14 years and saw a lot of changes.

Traffic? You bet, but there's been a lot of road improvements in the area. I've heard the schools are good, but can't tell you more than that.

There's a ton of shopping as a previous poster mentioned, but there's also this for the kids: Honeygo Run Regional Park (broken link)

White Marsh and Hunt Valley are considered the prime parts of Baltimore. You can't go wrong.....
