i am not from columbus, but I am from Erie, PA, similar town, and also lived in Cleveland for 4 years.

I personally would love to move back to Cleveland/Erie, but alas due to work, I cannot. I loved being on the lake, near my family, and personally just love the more laid-back nature of living in this area of the country, as opposed to the faster-paced Baltimore-DC area. Yes, you're within a couple hours of almost everything, but I like the slower pace of the mid-west.

Hope that helps!

Not Columbus, but Dayton, and I also lived in Cleveland for 10 years, then Germantown MD for 9.

My husband grew up in Gaithersburg and we moved there after we married in 1999--he'd been in Texas for the four years prior. I found that I didn't like the high traffic, the me attitude, the congestion, the terrible drivers. I also hated the fact that all we could afford was a townhouse.

It was good being close to my husband's family, and the restaurants, shopping, and entertainment available was amazing, but once we had kids, it just wasn't where we wanted to be anymore.

Are you regretting your move? Why?

I guess it depends on what exactly is getting old about Frederick, and if moving back to Ohio would change it any. Ohio does have a poor job market now, but depending on what you do, Columbus is the biggest city in the state (or at least it was) and is probably doing better than the rest of the state. Start putting some feelers out and see what you can find. Good luck with it!

What is getting 'old'?

Are you homesick or do you just want to be in Ohio rather than MD?

I can't tell you if I'd rather here or Columbus. I haven't been around there in a loooong time.
