Does anyone know about the Marion apartments in Columbia? Or how about Southgate Crossing/ Avalon at Symphony Glen?. Both get high ratings on apartment.com but I don't know Columbia at all and would appreciate a 2nd opinion from you folks regarding safety, etc..Also, if anyone knows of any other apartments in the area that I should check out or definitely stay away from that would be really appreciated. Thanks

Southgate is nice, but expect heavy traffic any time there's an event at Merriweather. On the flip side of that, you'd get a free concert any time there's a concert there! (You're right across the street from it).
Never heard of Marion Apartments. Where are they?
About the only place I can think of not really wanting to go to live in Columbia would be the Tamar Dr. area (just personal preference.)
Safety in Columbia isn't that much of an issue. Mostly petty crime (small amount of vandalism, occasional broken car glass) but it's pretty rare. If you're looking at that price range, try Beech's Farm or Clary's Crossing. The King's Contrivance area is pretty nice (always wanted to live over that way, but can't afford any housing in MD at the moment!)

Columbia Rd has tons of Apartment complexes and is the ideal neighborhood for most people. I loved my time living there. Only problems were break in to peoples cars and occasional apartments but I always lived on the 3 rd floor so I felt safe. Its mostly knuckleheads who come from out of town to pillage..
