Smile Looking to Move to Grantsville, Maryland

My husband and I are looking to move to Grantsville, Maryland and I was wondering if anyone could answer a few ( I wish it were only a few ) questions. I was wondering what the state taxes and the property taxes were. I was also wondering how far the nearest Major Hospital is. I have a million other questions, but I will be kind and start with these. Any help would be greatly appreciated.......

Thanks so much, Tina

Hi.....Hubby and I moved from Grantsville to FL. We're really from CA and thought the change of pace would be welcome.....we had a GREAT house on Keysers ridge just outside of Grantsville. It's one of the most beautiful areas
I've seen. However, living there was a huge adjustment, (to say the least!), and we moved to FL as soon as our 2 year home ownership was up.

There are a couple of hospitals in the area. I'd say the closest one is in Oakland, MD....you can also go to the one in Cumberland..it's about 32 miles down the mountain, or even go to the one in Myersdale, PA. There are really a couple of good doctors in Grantsville...a husband and wife team. Drs. Chotani and wife.

We paid $2000.00 home taxes for our house that was over 3000 sf on 15 acreas....paid $ 270,000 for the home. That was about 4 years ago. There is a state tax in MD.

If I can answer anymore questions I will. You can PM me or ask here and I'll try to help.

Default Looking to move

Property taxes are 1.09 per mil. The nearest major hospital is Sacred Heart, approxamately 21 miles away. Thus an 18 or 19 minute drive. Maryland state taxes can be found on the web. You can shop at Grantsville Foodland, and Hilltop fruit market. If you choose you can go to La Vale which is not that far away. Grantsville Elementary school system is working under the proto type that children can begin their education in kindergardden not first grade. Summer entertainment is swimming, boating, fishing, Grantsville days, the Alpine village, and many more. Winter time entertainment includes skiing and snowboarding and for the very brave ice fishing. A very small community with an extremely low crime rate. Hopefully I have covered some of the questions you have about the community I call home.

It's all rural, they dont even have a stop light. Grantsville and the surrounding area's are all nice place's to live. I have friends with school age children in the Grantsville district and they are all happy with the schools. The winters are snowier. I liked living there and I really miss the Hilltop fruit market. We lived 7 miles from Grantsville and we still have our farm for sale. If anyones interested PM me.

Hi. Just moved to Grantsville about 8 weeks ago. Very rural community. Lots of snow and cold. Pretty. If you like hills - this is the place for you. People are friendly in general, but a bit distant until they get used to seeing you in their small community. Since it is rural - everyone knows everyone else pretty much. Not a bad place.
