I'm a 20-something seeing a lot of job opportunities in my field in Columbia, MD, but frankly I'd rather live in Baltimore City. Is the commute from a 95-accessible neighborhood like Federal Hill to Columbia going to be a disaster? The longest I would be willing to spend in the car is 20-30 minutes (including traffic). It seems like the commute would be going against traffic, but you never know. Anyone with experience commuting out from Baltimore city to Howard County? What is it like in the mornings and evenings?

I do this exact commute everyday, 5 days a week. I live in Federal Hill and work in the middle of Columbia. On a good day, my commute each way is 30 minutes. On a bad day, it's taken an hour. It's doable though. You're indeed going against traffic. I always take 295South from Bmore down to Route 100West in Columbia. You'll be fine.

I have a co-worker who does the commute from the city to 15 minutes past Columbia and it is not bad. I did it the other day. There may be an accident or road work every now and then but the nice thing is that there are several possible routes to take, as opposed to just one.

Hey man!

I saw this feed and needed a good answer as well! I am going to be in the same boat. I am not sure how I feel about the commute but was this worth it?
