Hi,

My husband and I will be moving to Maryland with him working at Aberdeen and me at Fort Meade. We're looking to buy a house for around ~450K max in a town good for raising kids that hopefully doesn't have a horrible commute to either place. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!

That's tough. The midpoint with the easiest commute to both would probably be right in Baltimore, but not sure how "family friendly" that would be. Otherwise it looks like one (if not both of you simply because of all the traffic around here) might have a rough commute, because you'd have to either take 695 or one of the tunnels (I'm not extremely familiar with the tunnels but I've heard horror stories).

I would probably say around Towson or Lutherville/Timonium, but that'd give you the worse commute between the two of you on 695 West/South for awhile. Or really easy for him would probably be around Perry Hall/White Marsh and then you'd probably have to try the tunnels.

If you'd rather have the easier commute I'd probably say around Catonsville or maybe Ellicott City.

Default Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I figured the commute would be rough. I looked it up and I guess one or both of us can also take the commuter rail, so I might try to look along that line.

Ellicott City is a good place, getting a bit congested but so is all of Maryland. White Marsh will be for a better commute to Aberdeen and to Ft. Meade. 95 races, but you do get there without too much clog like 695. There will need to be a tunnel commute for at least one of you. The Harbor Tunnel 895, or The Fort McHenry tunnel, 95...to go around the tunnels would be The Francis Scott Key Bridge. Now I've really confused you.
