Default If You Live In Allegeny/Garett County..Which Teams/Cities Do You Root For?

Those of you who live in Allegeny, Garett County, and even to a lesser extent Washington County, I'm curious, who do you root for?

1) What sports teams do you root for/cities do you align to?
-Washington teams, Baltimore, or Pittsburgh?

2) Which teams games do you get on TV, are covered in the local papers, TV?

3) If it's split how do people decide which way to go
-Is there a lot of criss crossing (Washington one sport, Baltimore another, then Pittsburgh) or do people normally go with one city?

4) Which sports are big, football, baseball, hockey, nba?

I know in New England, southern, Italians usually go with NY and Irish with Boston.
I wasn't sure if West Maryland is divided, and if so how, or if goes with Pittsburgh since culturally it's more like West PA.

5) If there is a split, where does it begin, example from what point does it go from Pittsburgh to Washington and Baltimore and what is the split, 70/30?

Thanks.

Hey man, if it were up to me, they'd be Eagles fans.

Default sports question

I read a similar posting of yours about Western MD sports. I think that posting pretty much summed it up. What do you think Western MD sports fanship should be like? Are you surprised that the Allegany County area is split between the Redskins and the Steelers while Garrett County leans more toward Pittsburgh? Do you feel that there should be more Ravens fans in Western Maryland? My impression is that in general the older generation of Western Maryland doesn't embrace change. The original Colts fans there switched loyalties to the next nearest team, the Redskins, because the Steelers were the Colts' rivals. The Ravens starting up in Baltimore would not entice those dispersed Colts fans to embrace some new team. Although, there may be increasing fanship for the Ravens among the younger generation in the Western MD since the Redskins are declining.

I thought from Washington County onward it was split between Pittsburgh, DC, and Baltimore with Allegeny being more for Pittsburgh and garett all Pittsburgh.

Neither, I prefer other liesure pursuits and do not have one team. My family rotates interests, sports, and teams. Marylanders are very independent, the "bold and free" state.

I'd really like to know about Allegeny and Garett counties, and Washington.
Do you get Pit, DC, BAL or all 3 stations, which teams are followed, which city do people ID with and papers do they read?

Can not speak for all of us in Western Maryland. I see a range of Sports team flags proudly displayed outside homes. So there appears to at least visually be an indication of a lot of interests in sports teams. My observations are antidotical.

Read the Herald-Mail.com and that will give you an inside view at the Md, Pa and WVa exburbs and rural areas out here. They talk sports all the time in the paper. Not my preferred topic but it can be fun.

Like I said, I see folks rooting for a range of teams, high school, college and pro ball.
