I love Kanes in Saugus. Now THATS a friggin' DONUT. OMG. I had an apple frittah today that was TO DIE FAW!!! OMG. and the coffee....not bad but could be a tad strongah. Then there's Heavenly Donuts in Methuen. Wow now THATS a friggin' AWZOM donut and the coffee...we are talkin' friggin seriously good joe.

SO where is your fave donut joint? and how is the coffee??????????????
Thank you someone who doesn't think dunkin donuts is good. I haven't had donuts in awhile, but the best ones I had in the area were up in NH about 15 years ago. It was a local place and I don't remember the name. I'm not a coffee drinker so I can't give my opinion there. I just know that as far as food dunkin donuts isn't anything special and I avoid the place.

Well, when you live in FL, all you get is Dunkin Donuts... You guys have it made up there with all the donut shops and bakeries, we have crap down here. The only thing better than Dunkin is Krispy Kreme. Man, October can't come soon enough for me.

I totally second this! Not only are their cider donuts incredible, but their caramel glazed and maple glazed donuts in their bakery are also killer.

I just finished a Coffee Roll from Kanes in Saugus MA. I bought it on Friday AM and ate it for three days....the thing is HUGE and delicious. OK, not a donut but a damn good pastry. It must be almost a foot in diameter and two inches thick, glazed with cinnamon and sugar....man o man. You gotta try it.

CWaggy, I heard about Kanes Donuts & their famous coffee rolls before!

I couldn't think of the name of that place for the longest time, I had heard about it from people I worked with in Boston, they were always telling us about it. Thank you for posting your message here. I just went on to their site to get directions from where I live & now I'm on a mission to get there. So thank you immensely for this awesome tip. Especially great for my mother, who will love them! She lives in the boon docks & grew up in the greater Boston area & absolutely loves, loves loves anything from the good bakeries & restaurants down around you guys. I guess you really don't appreciate it until you move away & go crazy for something "good" like that, yum, even though it's got calories & it's a health crazed world we live in now, she's only like 89 pounds so she can have one (or two, right?!)

From Wikipedia: Cedarville is the southeasternmost village in Plymouth, Massachusetts, United States. Cedarville is bounded to the north by Ellisville Road and Hedges Pond, to the south by the Town of Bourne, to the west by Little Herring Pond and Great Herring Pond, and to the east by Cape Cod Bay.

Getting back on topic, the only independent place I've been to is N&J in Oxford Center. Not bad. I probably need to do more exploring. Then again, seemingly everything is Dunkin or Honey Dew in Mass.
