This may just be the responders here, although it's conceivable that unless one is a ".com-er" or "trust-fund-er", it may take some years to accumulate enough to buy a house here. It's possible we have all of them living in our neighborhood. Our neighborhood is aging out, several families in 30's & 40's with young kids have moved in (including one without kids). My husband & I were in our twenties when we originally rented an apt. here.

Maybe it's just us, but I would probably describe folks as "mellow" or "understated".

I disagree that the commute via train would save you any time, it would be well over an hour door to door as well.

Drive or walk to Concord Station: 5 minutes + a few minutes early so you don't miss train
Commute to North Station: 45 minutes
Walk across street to Orange Line and wait for train: 5+ minutes
Take Orage Line to Back Bay Station: 15 minutes
Walk to Office: 5 minutes+

The commute will be bad for several hours in the AM (say 6:30AM to 9:30AM) and again for PM (say 4:00PM to 7:00PM). I drive from route 2 to 128 to Newton every day and it isn't fun and shifting a bit early or late doesn't help...it has to be very early or very late.
