Sounds like a good deal. Is it part of a large complex w/pool and tennis? That would give your son something to do in the immediate area, plus I'm sure there will be kids from his school who live there too. Easier to meet people when you're part of a community like that.

Nope. Not part of a large complex and after I received the pictures yesterday I am not so sure I will take it. Nothing has been done to this place in a long time. A single guy owns it and doesn't sound like he wants to do much to improve it besides touch up painting and linoleum in the sometimes flooded basement. I honestly feel like giving up.

puff

when we lived there we had trouble finding a place what takes dogs, we found mass not a dog friendly area. Many people who rent out don't seem to care abou t their properties in the end we did find a place in weymouth.
really nice guy and a nice place near columbian square.
Now we moved out of state and couldn't believe how easy it was to find a place with dogs of course we bought an house now so that is behind us(thank God)
My brother inlaw is now in the same boat as you and totally understand where you're coming from

I hope everything works out for you

Puf- I would suggest making a trip east to patrol entire towns for down friendly landlords. Your best bet is going to be finding a 2 family home where the landlord has a dog(s) of their own and lives there as well.

As said before, I wouldn't give up on your first choice towns just yet. It seems like you are just roaming the entire state to find a rental and that has to be very frustrating.

I just rented my condo to a great tenant with 2 dogs. I would NOT have rented to someone with dogs over email or the phone. You really need to get out here and meet some people.

I also suggest visiting some dog parks in the areas you are interested in- you might just meet a landlord or network and find a great rental.

I appreciate what you are saying and what I have tried to do that seems to be working is sending pictures of the doggies plus the two letters of reference we have from our last two landlords. If we find a few that fit the bill on both sides, one of us will go, if necessary. We have had a few people that haven't flinched about the dogs but there was something missing in their place for us. Keep your fingers, toes and eyes crossed because we are waiting to hear back from a single family home in Hingham after calling our references. Is $1800 a good deal for a 1700 sq ft.,four bed,two bath home, perfectly kept up by the ocean? Or should we consider the two bed two bath condo in Concord for $1750?

The Hingham deal is FAR better Puff! Deals like this can easily slip away- this is a place I would suggest meeting the landlord in person sooner than later.
