Hi all, does anyone have experience with xfinity from comcast or FIOS from verizon? We recently bought a home in MA, and the house is already wired with FIOS. I don't know if it's better/easier to stick with what is already in the house, or check out everything and go from there. I currently have comcast but not xfinity. We would plan on bundling internet and tv, but are considering just adding a line to our cell to avoid the extra cost of a landline. In case it matters for service quality, we'll be in Boxford. Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks

FIOS hands down!

FIOS = fibre(quality)

Xfinity = coax

Fios!

We had Comcast for 8 years and would have intermittent internet pretty much every few days, problems with our box, and pixelated TV.

Switched to Fios 2 years ago and have not had one problem. Faster and more reliable!

Regardless of which is better, run very far away from Comcast. They suck. We switched to a dish for TV and FIOS for internet years ago and have never looked back.

I currently have Comcast because it is the only service that is available in my apartment complex (even though the town of Billerica is FIOS-ready, according to the FIOS people). So far, I have been happy with the service. During one very windy Saturday on Saturday, I lost all service for a good part of the day, and I was quite annoyed by it. But, other than that, very good service.

However, had I the choice from the start, I would have probably gone with FIOS simply because, as some people here have expressed, Comcast as a company is horrible. They do not know the meaning of "customer service." I had some serous problems down in Atlanta with them. So, if I move and my contract is over with Comcast, I will likely look into FIOS.

Definitely FIOS over Comcast. No question.

We had comcast for many years going back to the mediaOne days - I was one of earliest cable modem (internet) customers - so early that they didn't even bill me for the service for a year, but after about 5 years of trying to get them to fix our frequent service outages (I got to know the repairman pretty well - nice guy) I gave up and switched to FIOS. Vastly better service.

Definitely FIOS. We can't get it in my town, but if we could, we'd switch immediately.

I currently have comcast and am switching to FIOS. Comcast wasn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be, but FIOS offers more for less money. You can get faster internet with FIOS and the tv picture looks better. Also, I'm getting more HD channels with FIOS. If the place is already hardwired with FIOS that should keep the installation cost lower.

Thanks everyone for chiming in! It looks like FIOS is winning pretty much hands down. That makes the decision a lot easier!

Had FIOS now forced to pay through the nose for horrendous service of Comcast. You know how you see a salesperson at a home show or in the mall and try to avoid them? Well I'm the woman who is grabbing the Verizon person by the ankles begging them to PUHLEEZ come to the Cape with FIOS.
