Default Is Malden Center a safe area?

I'm considering to move there or at least have my office there.
Is it a safe area?
What are some of the pros and cons of Malden?

I worked in an office on Florence St, around the corner from the T station, for ~7 years. I never felt unsafe. Even late at night.

I can say with experience Malden is a good place, and reasonably safe. Malden is nice because it has diverse interesting communities with things to do, and has real nice public transport and access to Boston. There aren't a whole lot of cons I can say because I don't know what you don't like, but the one thing I can say is that the schools aren't particularly good. Cheers

Malden has changed a lot over the last ten years - I saw it when I came back after a long time away. It has gotten much more run down and poor looking. That being said, I think downtown Malden is still safe enough during the daytime, but I would never live there. You would be much better off in Melrose (in 2009, the overall crime rate in Malden was nearly 3 times that of Melrose).

I think it's safe enough to live there. Personally, not a huge fan of Melrose.

Facts are facts, Bostonmania. You don't need to be a 'fan' of Melrose to acknowledge that it is quite a bit safer than Malden. And just for the record, I lived in Malden and used to walk to Oak Grove every day (and night). Would never do that now. It is sad to see how run down and poor much of it has become. Not as bad as Roxbury or Chelsea yet but getting there.

I know Melrose is safer than Malden, I'm just stating my opinion of it.
