Looking at mid/western Mass which is probably more in our budget rental range. Trying to narrow down areas that have public transit to get around, dense/walkable instead of suburban along with day programs for my mentally challenged young adult dd. Fun stuff for her to do with like peers would be good too, very sociable young woman. Massachusetts seems to have a great atmosphere for seeing the abilities instead of the limitations of the disabled, I'm hoping this is correct. For the rest of the family, a varied age range for residents would be nice, reasonable chance of finding employment.

I did find the 211 site and I found 10 listings for the whole state - I know the specific search terminology can vary - what's mentally retarded can be cognitively disabled, developmentally delayed...in 20 something years I've had a dozen different diagnosis names all meaning the same thing...it gets hard to keep up. If you know any other sites to check, it would be appreciated.

Any info on programs in specific area's - Springfield? Worcester? or suggestions would be great. I'm guessing it would be harder to find in smaller towns, as would transit. I'd love to live near downtown but real urban settings make everyone else in the family anxious/overwhelmed..so a mile or so away from the heart of things (depending on the size of the city/town).

Oh..is there a place to look up local city/county taxes to compare them?
We currently live in a cheap state (no, not the south) and my state/local -city and county taxes have tripled. Don't want to repeat this experience. We won't be buying a home so property taxes won't apply.
