I've read a lot of nice things about Norwell on this forum. Can anyone tell me whether the town has any playgrounds? What would be some of the other things mothers with 2/3/4 year olds are doing in or near Norwell. Thanks!

Norris Reservation is beautiful, but no real playground and probably too long of a nature walk for a toddler. Gaffield Park is nice for the kids and close by to Norris and is a pretty decent playground.

In the summer down on 123 over the Scituate border you can take the little ones blueberry picking which is fun and delicious.

The South Shore Science Center is great for kids a little bit older.

I think there are a few mommy and me arts and crafts type businesses as well.

Gaffield Park is in the center of town and a perfect spot for children the ages you mention. A community group, of parents of course, pretty much maintains the park and buys new equipment for it now and then. The town does some maintenance, too, of course. There are quite a few athletic fields and an active youth athletics environment. In addition to the outdoor play areas, the Norwell Public Library runs roughly 250 Children's Programs each year, so there are a lot of kid friendly things, if you're looking for them. There are few sidewalks and the town is currently building a bike path. This is important because the roads are mostly narrow and winding... not the sort of roads you'd encourage little ones to bike on.
