I am a mid 30s professional with a 50 pounds dog. Will be relocating for a new job in Cambridge in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions on areas to live (in or not too far from Cambridge), apartment complexes that are dog friendly or real estate agents to get in touch with?

I am hoping to find a decent one bedroom apartment for under $2,000. Is that reasonable?

Thanks for your help!

Your budget should be fine, and welcome to Cambridge. I lived there for 18 years and spent a fortune in restaurants and arts stuff. Can't beat it.
Regarding your pooch, well, I'd just get any rental agent I could and ask about the dog and apartments available. It can be rather tough. I'd consider Arlington and Watertown, too, very easy access to Cambridge and a bit easier on the wallet and the dog thing.
I moved out of Cambridge largely to have dog(s). Now have six senior mutts and a big yard.
Best wishes on your move with your buddy.
