Hi all,

I was wondering what your thoughts were on a reverse commute from Boston to Hingham (I know, I know). I have a pretty hot job prospect and would be relocating from NYC back to our fair city, so I'd like to stay in Boston proper, but don't know if I can commit to a Rt. 3/93 commute every day. Would living in Boston be feasible, provided I leave by 7:15 daily? Or would the headache of getting back into the city after work make it "not worth it"? I have zero desire to live anywhere south of, pretty much, Southie.

Thanks!
A

It should be OK. It's against traffic for the most part. I've never lived or worked down that way, but in July I was driving to Hingham and Cohasset pretty frequently. At about 5 or 5:30 pm there was some traffic through Quincy heading back into Boston on 93, but it didn't last long. Going the other way was the real headache.

Southie to Hingham is pretty easy. My fiance did it for 4 years. You just need to be aware of when there might be a bridge opening on 3A in Quincy. I think this is usually only like once a month though. The commute used to take her about 30 min.
