Just wanted to vent a little bit about the traffic on the pike friday night.
Went from WSPFLD (exit 4) to Watertown(exit 17) to visit family and friends(I live in WMass now grew up in Brookline),normally it is about 1hr 30 min door to door. Left my driveway at 4:30 friday afternoon knowing full way i would hit some traffic from exit 11a till exit 15. But what i did not expect and have never seen before in all my years of travelling the pike(22 years worth) was traffic from exit 6 all the way to exit 17.

I don't mean going 40 on the pike i mean bumper to bumper 5 feet at a time. I did not get out of my car in Watertown till 11:25 that night. 7 hours spent on the pike is just crazy, there were no accidents to speak of no signs of why there was such heavy traffic just a snarl for 80 miles.

I know it was a holiday weekend but honestly I have never seen it that bad even on the 4th or memorial day. Anyone else get stuck in this or ever seen it that bad before?

My husband left work in Boston at 3:30 PM on Friday and didn't get to Grafton until close to 6. Although commuter traffic is bad, especially on holiday weekends, he usually doesn't run into bumper to bumper traffic starting at 3:30 that never breaks up. It appears traffic was severe in both directions. I wonder what was going on?
