Mansfield
Does anyone have experience commuting on the Providence line to south station? How long does it take? How is the parking?

I haven't taken the train in 6 years so I don't know what its like presently. I live in Oregon now. I can't imagine its changed much timewise or parking. However I can assume the fares have gone up and up. I wasn't a daily commuter but I took the train about once or twice a week. I lived about equal distance from the Attleboro or Mansfield stations. I would board the train in Attleboro but now and then in Mansfield. It took about 45 to 50 minutes provided there were no delays. I didn't much care for the parking mainly at the Mansfield station. Seems to me there was limited parking spaces available for nonresidents at the Mansfield station. I believe that is why I used the Attleboro station, parking was better than Mansfield. Although both stations were very crowded with commuters. The Attleboro station has tons of commuters from Rhode Island and parking does fill up in the AM. Hope this helps.

Thank you. Do you remember if you were able to get a seat from those stops? Does the wifi work reliably?

Yes I always had a seat. I never had a problem with that. I didn't use the wifi, but I saw many passengers using their laptops. So I assume it was working or they had other options. I definitely think taking the train beats driving into Boston. I learned real fast after a few snow storms during rush hour that I was commuting by train. I had some 2 and 3 hour drives between Boston and No.Attleboro during rush hour snow storms. I was a nervous wreck driving in them. On the train I could relax, and be thankful I was not having to drive to Boston in it. The traffic is horrendous on a good day, let alone during snow storms.
The train gets you right into So Station. If you need subway connections the Red Line is right there. Or you can get off at Back Bay and make subway connections to the Orange Line.
Enjoy.

Thats a big help! Seems more difficult than I thought to balance out what I could affoard for a house the commute to work and the right community to raise a kid. I like more woody areas so it makes it even more difficult! Thank you for the help.
