Hey everyone - I am in the process of selling a home and buying one in the south shore. I am considering East Bridgewater, but was wondering how long it would take me to get to Framingham every day. I work right off the rt 30 exit near TJX. Has anyone done a similar commute? Also, how is rt 24 in the morning? I have driven rt 3 a number of times during commuting hours, and that is terrible. Wondering if it is similar, or where it starts getting congested?!

Thanks in advance!

On a good day (read: no traffic), you're looking at 45 minutes.

However, if you commute during regular commuting hours, there's no such thing as a "good day" along that route.

I don't think 24 is as bad as Route 3. But it's not a walk in the park either. 24 gets slow every morning at around exit 17 (Brockton) and sporadically slows down and speeds up as you approach the split at 93/128. In the evening, it's generally fairly slow (not bumper to bumper) until you get to about exit 18 or 17. It seems like there's an accident in/around Brockton every few days or so to throw things off even more.

The worst stretch is 128 which will fluctuate from slow to almost free flowing to bumper to bumper at various spots along the route. It's long and frustrating until you hit I-90. The I-90 leg should actually move quite nicely. You'll be heading in the opposite direction of rush hour traffic and 90 is generally faster anyway. Unfortunately, thats the shortest leg of your commute.

My father commutes most of your route to work. He commutes from Freetown (exit 10 on rt.24) to Burlington (a ways past I-90 on 128) every day. Luckily, his line of work lets him have flexible hours so he generally works 7-3, just beating the bulk of traffic. It's an hour drive on a good day that turns into close to 2 hours with traffic. He chose those hours specifically because of the traffic. I think your commute could easily be in the ballpark of 1.5 hours each way on a bad day. If weather's an issue (snow or even heavy rain), it'll be a real pain.
