in the winter of 1976 I stayed in a hotel that had an indoor swimming pool set conspicuously on the ground floor in the center of the guest rooms, and i believe the hotel was at least 2 floors. sauna and steam rooms were off to the side near the pool. at the time this might have been a new concept (a hotel near where i used to live in NY State was called the "Holidome" opened in 1980 followed the same concept with the indoor pool in the middle of everything)

the reason i ask is that i would like to take a few days vacation and if this hotel is still there after all these years I might like to venture up to stay again

I was only a teen at the time so i don't remember the name but all i do remember was that it was in Sturbridge

does anyone know the hotel i am posting about? is it still there? under another name?

whether it is or not, i really appreciate your effort! I am going to check to see and make some calls. it's tough for me because i just turned 14 when i was there and i remember so little other than the immediate indoor area. i can ask them how long they've been there...

thanks again

Sounds like the Sturbridge Host Hotel to me too. I haven't been in a lot of hotels in Sturbridge tho. There are quite a few. The Sturbridge Host Hotel also has a small mini golf course. We went there for a birthday party once.

That hotel is right next to Sturbridge Village. Do you remember going there?

problem was it was in February and cold so if i had to guess we didn't go there due to the cold (or if we did i just don't recall)

on the other hand now, i recall an image of water with some kind of chowder restaurant with quaint buildings

Well that hotel has been there a long time. I'm sure it used to be called something else. I remember it as a kid.

I stayed at a hotel in the 70's -80's across from Sturbridge Village but it was the Sheraton at the time which I think is no longer there but I don't know what it is now.. They had a beautiful pool area
