Visiting in October what to wear?
What is the weather usually like at the end of October? We will be arriving on the 20th and staying until the 27th. We are from TX so the weather is hot still at that time, what type of weather should we expect so we will know what to pack.

Perfection! Just bring a sweater for the evening or if it gets a little chilly in the afternoon. I think you will be arriving a little past the peak of the leaves changing but still gorgeous. I'm so jealous!

In late October in MA it's possible to have just about any kind of weather except the really hot or really cold. It's generally a very pleasant time of year, without extremes of temprature, and usually dry and sunny. But, it's possible to get a day of heavy rain. The typical weather at that time of the year would range from pleasantly cool to kind of refreshingly chilly, but it's possible that it could be fairly cold or as warm as days in the 70's or low 80's. A sweater, a light jacket, and rain gear, along with both long- and short-sleeved shirts, should be fine for almost any kind of weather you'd encounter in MA that time of year.
You can probably leave the heaviest winter clothing at home. Depending on what part of TX you're from, however, and what the coldest weather is that you're used to, you might want a lightweight hat and light gloves, since the coldest weather that's possible, even if unlikely, might seem pretty brisk to you if you're used to Hill Country winters. On the other end of the scale, it could be warm enough that you'd be comfortable in shorts, so if you'd like to wear shorts in the event of warm weather, take them, but it won't get so hot that you would have to have shorts to be comfortable. Short sleeves and slacks would be very comfortable in the warmest weather that's likely that time of year.
Hope this helps, and best wishes for an enjoyable trip.

The weather here is so unpredictible that time of year. We've had Halloweens where the temperature got close to 80 and others when you needed a parka, lol. I suggest packing items that can be layered, even if we have warm days, the nights will be quite chilly, especially if you aren't used to it.

Ayup. Fall going on winter. Depends a lot on which part of the state, too. The Cape and Boston are warmer into the Fall than the interior because of the heating of the Gulf Stream just offshore.
As someone suggested, layers are ideal, especailly since it can go down to freezing at night, but back up 60 or 70 if it is a nice sunny day and the wind is from the south.
As the old saw goes, if you don't like the weather, wait a day, and it will change.

The weather here changes as fast as the blink of an eye.. You should maybe mix it up..with stuff you can layer.... It could be warm, cold, rainy, sunny, you just never know here.

Late October can vary greatly- it can be 50 degrees or 70 degrees in the daytime- or somewhere in between which is average.
October is the clearest month in New England- but rains if they occur will require the appropriate clothing,(waterproof light parka's umbrellas etc.) Sweaters/sweatshirts and light jackets are perfect in the daytime.
In the early to mid evening in late October a chill can sit in with temperatures falling to the upper 30s and low 40s- a light to medium jacket will do.
Coastal Mass, the Boston area, Cape Cod , the south and north shore will be milder then areas to the west inland.

I am ready to see all of the foliage I have never visited or even been in this area but something has always drawn me to the new england states for as long as i remember especially Massachusetts. I keep telling my husband I know I will not want to leave once we get up there and I am sure to shed some tears once there . We would really like to relocate and live there one for the schools and two for the seasons and beautiful scenery.
