Oh man, I love MA. You guys are amazing at driving, keep up the good work. No idea how i've never been in an accident haha. I guess defensive driving really works.
It almost seems like the worse the weather, the more recklessly people drive. I'm contemplating calling in sick today because last night's commute on 128 was horrific. The traffic jam was actually better than when it cleared, then people started driving like morons, tailgating, switching lanes and speeding. Not a police patrol car in sight either, which was weird. I'll pass on work today...could do without the stress.

this is exactly what i was getting at. why would people drive in a way that is more risky when the conditions worsen. it makes no sense.

Enjoy your day out of work today. I'm too new at my job so i can't do the same. Plus I do sales so I want to go in and earn commissions for the week!

I am not sure if you know a real story of a guy calling in sick and posting the pictures of him partying with his friends on FB...

No wonder he was FIRED the very next day he went to work..

Did you take written exam in MA? How many questions were about driving rules, typical road situations, and how many about what are chances of accident if there is deadly drunk teenager behind the wheel? I deal with driving student every day. You know what they ask me sometimes? "What does this sign mean - this triangle upside down"? I'm not kidding.
Rotary is good way to regulate the traffic, if you know what to do on the rotary, who has right of way,
what signal you use at what time. You have to know that before driving, it's not difficult, but it's late to read manual when you are already on the rotary. For example in Europe, in Singapore, in Russia before being admitted to the road test you have to take about 36 hours behind the wheel. Beside of theory in a classroom. Main parts of the car, general mechanics, first aid etc. Rules of the road as well... For the test you have bunch of questions with drawings. Situation one -here is a bus, there is a motorbike, here you are. Who has right of way? Situation two...etc.
You know how to take a road test here? Just go and pass. That's it! Do you know how to open the door in the car? Congratulations, you are good to go!! Of course, somebody must pay insurance, somebody must keep auto body guys and hospitals busy.

I'm glad this thread got resurrected so that I can share this story . . . a couple days ago I was driving down Rt 9 westbound in Natick. I was in the left lane a couple of car lengths behind the car in front of me and we were not driving under the speed limit. Apparently though, we weren't driving fast enough for the guy behind me. So, he moved to the right and sped up. Of course, this numb skull only succeeded in catching up with the guy in front of him in the right lane and didn't accelerate fast enough to pass me safely. So . . . instead he just cut me off. Luckily, I saw it coming and jammed on my brakes otherwise he would have hit me going well over 50 MPH. So, I beeped at him because he cut me off. So he of course, flipped me off. Seriously?
