Default Rocks Village nr. Haverhill/West Newbury

What can you tell me about this community? Would love to know demographics, if close to any industrial sites, how rural it is, etc. Thanks!

Haverhill has several little 'villages' within it's borders, and Rocks Village is one of them. It's one of Haverhill's most rural and picturesque areas, running along the Merrimack River from the Riverside area of Haverhill, up to the Rocks Village Bridge (which leads to West Newbury) and the Merrimac border. While Haverhill is a city with plenty of industry (most notable in the Ward Hill Industrial Park) you won't find any of that in the Rocks Village area. Northern Essex Community College is nearby, along with Whittier Tech (the local vocational technical HS, with students coming in from many area towns). There is a fire station. And a llama farm. This area is primarily single family homes, and while there are a number of newer subdivisions built in the last decade or two, there are also homes in the area dating back to the 1800s or earlier. It's very easy to Rte 495 from Rocks Village. I think that about covers it.

Default Thanks Valerie!

Thanks for this info! I'm always amazed by how little my husband and I have explored our own county.

Rocks Village is a quaint little village with a lot of old colonial homes and a landmark bridge between the village and West Newbury. The river is really scenic around this area, the width of the river is impressive. It's a scenic ride along River Rd. in Merrimac just over the town line from the village. Rocks Village feels pretty far removed from the city of Haverhill and more like being in a small town like Merrimac or West Newbury.

I took these photos in the fall a few years ago....
