This is not true at all. The reason they have not open in Mass. was that they could not get the desired location. Good retail location is rather rare due to the stringent development laws in most town. No town wants a mall near them. In fact, Mr. Nordstrom himself was quoted as saying he has been trying to get into the Boston market for over 20 years. It only took the merger of Filene's to Macy's to free up the desired mall locations. It has nothing to do with employment. This is the reason they will be opening 4 Mass. stores, 1 every year until 2010.

Default Thanks we all feel better! It's not us!

It is always nice to hear another side to the story. I can only guess that what I was told was going around the marketplace since Mr. Nordstrom made a comment at all?? Who knows and who cares really..They are here now!!!

is coming in at 7:30 a.m. on your day off paid time? Massachusetts does have strong labor laws? Also with the price of gas, do they just pay you to sit for a meeting for 30 mintues. That doesn't seem right.

You are paid for meeting time and you do HAVE to work nights and weekends or forget about working there. I don't know how Neiman's or Saks works in Boston, but in Beverly Hills you were paid straight commission on everything, usually about 10% plus great discounts which works out great if you are great at sales.

Coming in for those meetings isn't even bad. My managers always bring something like orange juice and krispy kremes or the vendors will bring us food when they are doing their presentations.

This is true, but honestly, if you aren't about your paper you shouldn't be working for Nordstrom anyway. It's honestly not even hard. Product, customer service and teamwork = $$.
