Does anyone know what the smoke/smog/steam is coming from teh smokestack in the center of Bellingham? It forms a cloud you can see from Foxboro on 495.

Yes, that's the smokestack.

What kind of chemicals is it spewing I wonder. Where can I find out that info for real. Afraid the locals/town will just say whatever that causes least resistance..."it's nothing to worry about".

It's the power plant, which is actually on Maple Street. It's a Natural Gas powered plant. No creepy chemicals.

This smokestack I'm talking about is not on maple street, it is right next to box pond on depot street. I did a drive by last night to be sure that was what I was seeing. On the EPA website it's listed as "BENZENOID ORGANICS" and something to do with tannery chemicals and the area was "capped" (not good) a while ago but seems no testing is being done. Also not good.

The address points to Northeast Energy Associates, LP. Their permits suggest that they burn "natural gas with a fuel oil backup".

Thanks - were you able to locate the reporting they're supposed to be doing quarterly from the New England EPA site (referenced in the second pdf you reference - page 12-13)?
