so im working on a job in waterbury ct and thinking of landing on the mass line, agawam, w side, southwick.

google maps says 1 hour commute, how real is that, i know years ago the 91 ride was a nightmare but that was way back when it was all 2 lane.

gas prices vs high cost of rentals in ct is the balancing point i guess.

i think if i am 500 a month less in rent i should be ok on the gas side of things.

One hour sounds awfully fast. I am trying to remember from the times I drove that way but it's been quite a while, sorry.

There is no way you can make it to Waterbury in an hour from those times during rush hour. Maybe 1 1/2 hours during rush hour, the traffic builds up quickly around the Day hill rd exit on 91 and remains that way till well after the 84 interchange and 84 itself is a nightmare all the way into Danbury. If you are working off peak hours it is do able but definately not during peak hours.

I wouldn't do that commute if you I were you. Increase your budget and move into CT (as much as it pains me to say it - I am not a fan of CT).
