Attleboro, Good or Bad?
We saw a few homes we liked in Attleboro...I see some threads recommending N. Attleboro over Attleboro.
Is it safe? How about the schools?
Anyone know about the Mortgage Hills section of Attleboro?
Thanks!

The area you mentioned is off 152, bordering the town line with North Attleborough, is that right? If so, that's a safe area, but overall the schools are not good and the downtown is fairly run down - pretty scary at night, actually.

North Attleboro is definitely nicer, but also more expensive.

Is "Mortgage Hills" a joke?

No, it's a real area. I'm guessing it acquired that name because a lot of bankers lived there at one time?
North Attleborough has a section called "Jeweler's Row", I believe, lots of lovely old houses.

If you are Catholic (or want to send your kids to Catholic school, Bishop Feehan is in Attleboro and it's got a great reputation.

It does have a great reputation, but i know four people who went there and let me just say i was surprised at the education they received (not in a good way).
I went to what was considered an average public high school and from what i saw in their grammar and how they wrote, i wasn't that impressed.

Wow, I'm surprised. I also know several students there presently and my husband coached football there for a time (not head coach) and the kids from my town that go there/have graduated from BFHS seem very well educated as well as well-mannered. My husband said the same thing about the kids when he coached there.
I guess every school has its good and bad points. Xaverian Bros is supposed to have a great reputation and I've met graduates who could barely write their names!
