Default Yo, Massachusetts!

I was just wondering something....I was debating this in my head for some time now, and I figured I'd ask this here, since you guys might know the answer.

This week, I'm passing through the area on my way to N.Y. with my sister, (Rockland County) and I was wondering that if we took the "shortcut" through Worcester (I-495 - I-210 - I-90), would it be a shorter or longer route than going the normal way (I-495 - I-90), and if so, by how much? Thanks in advance!

I figured that if I could at least save her a little bit of fuel with the way fuel prices are lately...

Are you coming from the North Shore/NH/ME area? If you are, then it's about 3 miles shorter and takes virtually the same amount of time since Worcester's speed limit is lower and has never-ending highway construction. I always took the 495-290-90-84 route when I drove to NJ from Hudson Mass to save a buck on gas and tolls.

Where are you coming from? It usually is shorter and easier going the Worcester route, but there has been non-stop construction on I-290 in Worcester for some time now.
