Default Somerville to Lawrence reverse commute

Hi everyone,

I was just offered a job in Lawrence, but I hear such awful things about crime there that I was wondering if it'd be better to live in a suburb north of Boston, perhaps Somerville, and drive up I-93 N to get to work in the morning. Google maps says the commute is 33 minutes from Somerville to my potential workplace, which I wouldn't consider too bad. Is this possibly accurate? It's a teaching job so I'd be making the commute from 7:15-8:00.

I'm not really looking for advice about other possible places to live, so please limit your comments to the reverse commute from the Somerville area to South Lawrence. Thanks to everyone who replies!!
