Question Quick! Help me decide between Westwood and Sudbury. I need to choose tonight.

We've found two homes we love. We love the neighborhood and commute (husband works in Back Bay--BUT he only goes into the city 2-3 days a week) of Westwood better. But the home in Sudbury is much less $$$ and we like the rural feel of Sudbury.

Please tell me about how these towns compare. Schools, people, vibe, pros and cons. What's the best choice. SO stumped.

Any help would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

Both are safe, family oriented towns with good schools and not much else. I would go with your gut feel. Both are great choices, and very comparable. Which place makes you feel better about moving?

Both are nice towns with a lot of houses and not too much else. Sudbury as you mention has a bit more of a rural feel though and some great old New England character.

Personally, I would go with Westwood. Home values in Westwood have done a bit better over the last 5 years or so. Plus, the commuting options in Westwood vs virtually no commuting options in Sudbury make it a town with wider appeal.

In the end though, it is a home and you should buy where you're going to be most happy.

If it's hard to decide which one is better, try to look at this from other perspective: if you could NOT buy either house - say lose in a bidding war - which one would you be more upset about not getting?

I know this is an older post, but just wondering which one you ended up chosing.

Unfortunately, people often come on here looking for advice and then disappear in a cloud of smoke as soon as they get it (or sometimes even before). This person has not logged on to the site since Nov. 2012. You might have better luck if you sent a PM as she might get an email alert from the system.

Westwood by far for commuting into BackBay. Otherwise, you will be looking at a 30 min drive to Riverside greenline and then a 45 train ride in a train full of students, on a good day. Or a 30 min drive to the Framingham or Ashland commuter rail and a 45 minute train ride.
