My daughter and two roommates live in a 3 br apartment in Belmont, very convenient, clean and bright. It's $1800 month excluding utilities. That is typical for Belmont, which is a very nice town with very decent housing. I doubt that you will find anything for $800/mo. Possibly a studio apt or one bedroom shared in a larger apartment.

Airedaly's right. If you check out Craigslist you will find a few small 1 bedrooms in the 800s but I haven't seen any 2-3 bdrms at that price. Sorry!

My daughter and her roommate lived in a 2 bedroom apartment in an older multi-family house in Belmont a few years ago. The rent was $1350 - no utilities included.

Honestly, I don't know if you'll find any 2 bedroom apartments in the Boston metro area for $800 -- maybe a few in some run down buildings. Worcester, Fitchburg, and Lowell would be your best bet in that price range.

Okay, a quick search on craigslist shows 2 bd apts generally range from about $1300-1600 and 3br will run from $1600-2000. I did see one ad for a 2 bedroom for only $1000 though.
