We are looking for our first home in Sudbury, and are trying to figure out the commute. We dont know this town at all, except from greatschools.org and realtor.com but on the map it looks like its an easy commute to Lexington.
We have a toddler, so leaving very early in the morning is tough. I think I will pretty much be doing the regular 8-5 rush hour drive. Does anyone know how long it would take me to get to Lexington, or have any shortcuts to suggest?

Sudbury to Lexington shouldn't be too bad of a commute. Depending on where you live in town, you could have a few different options for commuting which could allow you to bypass parts of RT 128. Ideally, living in the northern part of town would put you a little closer to Lexington and likely cut down on your commute time.

Just checked with my husband--this is part of his commute, so he offered some advice: you could either take Concord Road to Lincoln Road, then follow that to 126 and ultimately 117, or take 126 up to Baker Bridge Road. While you could do Old Sudbury to 117 to Tower, that way can get pretty backed up in the morning.

I live in the western part of Sudbury and commute to Waltham. Door to door (normal rush hours) takes me about 40 minutes. Although I usually take back roads to 20 into Waltham, I sometimes take backroads up to 117, which takes about 25 minutes. I don't think it's a bad commute at all, if you can avoid 128.
