Default Thoughts and opinions on Hancock Village apartments @ 224 Independence Dr., Brookline and the surrounding area.

Hi,

I am relocating to Boston (Dartmouth St.) for work and these apartment / townhomes caught my interest. So any thoughts or opinions on Hancock Village apartments @ 224 Independence Dr., Brookline, the surrounding area, commute time, etc?

Thanks!

JC

It's in Brookline, but it's on the West Roxbury border (about a mile from their commuter rails). There's no T nearby and you'll need a car to get anywhere. If you're looking for city living, this isn't it. But if you're just looking for a place w/close proximity to the city and you don't mind driving everywhere, then it's a good deal. Oh yeah, there's also a bunch of cemeteries surrounding it; I dunno if that spooks you or not.

You may be able take the orange line about a mile away in West Roxbury/Roslindale. It is a pretty area. I feel safe when I drove in the area. However, not sure about night time.

There's a bus running by there (#51), which connects to the Green and Orange lines, but it doesn't run on Sundays and only hourly on Saturdays. So you'd need a car. It's a safe neighborhood, but very suburban--it doesn't feel like the city at all.
