I am traveling I-80 from Chicago to Worcester. I have looked at the different routes until I got cross-eyed . . . they all seem about the same.

Can someone just tell me what the best route to take with a UHaul 17-foot truck and a pickup with a trailer? I guess I am looking for the least amount of hills and curves.

I would take I-80E to I-90E through upstate NY. I-80E through PA is very hilly, curvy and has lots of semi-traffic.

Thanks!

Have you ever driven the route through Detroit through Canada? Is that better? (We have passports.)

I've driven a Uhaul van (not a truck) through Canada from Boston to Chicago, and it wasn't too hilly. My friend and I wanted to see Canada, but that part of the route turned out to be completely uneventful. Unless you take a side trip to Toronto, there isn't much to see that makes the Canadian/Michigan route worthwhile, so why deal with passport checks?

I agree with dravogadro that I-80 to I-90 is the best route. If you want a taste of Canada, Niagara Falls isn't far off your path, and it's worth seeing if you haven't been already.

I have and it's relatively flat and boring with some nice views of wind farms. To be honest, I would not want to take the chance of having to unpack the car because of border patrol. Niagara Falls is worth the stop and if you do, definitely ride the boat (on the American side).

The monotony doesn't bother me, but the possibility of unloading a uhaul is prohibitive. I guess I'll try the upper NY route. Thanks!
